Is Fear Holding You Back? Hold Up Your Head & Step Past That Invisible Wall Into Your Destiny
What are you letting fear hold you back from? Speaking? Starting a business? Writing? Are you letting your imagination of “what might happen” if you step out in faith control your movement forward?
Fear, we learned in our last study is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat, anxious concern.
God knew we would deal with fear. I have read that the phrase “fear not” is in the Bible 365 times, once for every day of the year. I haven’t counted but I know it is mentioned a lot. So again God knew that we would have the emotion of fear to overcome when going forward.
What do we fear? I know for me my fear has been what others thought. so I guess fear of man. But Jesus says in Luke 12:4-5 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! ” So according to the Bible we should not fear man but God.
I know it’s easier to ignore God and obey or be lead by men. We see the men here with us but God is not visible to our eyes so He doesn’t seem a real threat so to speak. But if we allow fear of what others think of us we will use them as an excuse to disobey the will of God and this, in turn, can alter our destinies. You see God has a plan for you. Just like He has for me, just like He had for Joshua & Caleb, David, and even Jesus. You are not an accident. You have a purpose. God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 God has a plan for us all, it’s up to us to seek Him, learn of the plan, and carry it out. This is called our destiny.
Look at Adam & Eve, walking in the garden of Eden, (Eden means pleasure). They disobey God and lose the “pleasure” of a life lived in paradise. This altered the destiny of a nation, of the world because of sin. When King Saul disobeyed God he lost the kingdom and his family lost their place on the throne as well. Jonah didn’t want to deliver a message of hope through repentance to a people he didn’t like so he ran away from God but God sent a whale.
These examples are just a few but if you read them, they are powerful. If we allow fear to rule us, we disobey God, which leads to a destiny being unfulfilled and look at the lives that will be altered. Yours, your children, friends, strangers, who knows who God has lined up for you to meet. Don’t let fear stop you. Don’t let fear rule your future. Fear is just a feeling. Destiny is a life of opportunity. Think about this, if we say no to THE THING God has called us to it could be tied to a financial price tag as well. Example: If you are supposed to write a book but won’t, that book may have been THE starting point of a writing career for you instead of a job at the post office. Understand? There is nothing wrong with a job at the post office unless your hiding there from God.
What if Jesus had allowed fear to keep Him from the cross? He was, after all, human here and even asked that God change His mind but in the end, He prayed not My will but Yours be done and He went to the cross for you and me.
Remember, Fear is a liar!
Do it for God, Do it for you! Do it for Your Children!
Do it in spite of the fear!
Until next week,
Pick up your Bible and read!
