UGH! MOTHER’S DAY
As a pastor’s wife, I am in charge of getting the gifts for the mothers on Mothers Day. Sounds simple enough, right? WRONG! I stress over it. Lose sleep over it. And dread that day so bad that at times I just want to lay out on that Sunday. I feel like a child who has to impress the unimpressionable grandmother.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the mothers! I love buying or creating something for them, BUT some of the negative comments from the past years really get to me. I feel like I have to do better or buy better than what some of the bigger churches are giving. So year after year the stress of coming up with the perfect, yet inexpensive gift is on my shoulders to bare.
Should we give the same gift each year? We don’t but that’s an idea. We’ve given roses, chocolate, handwritten notes from the children and youth, every year something different. Every year will it be good enough? Should we just stop giving to the whole congregation of moms and just to the “special moms”? Should we just stop giving gifts period?
Ok, I don’t know why I get so stressed over this.? We have a great group of ladies who are always encouraging and back me up however needed. Now. So I’m not going to stress anymore. I’m not going to lose sleep over it. What we give will be with love. Not obligation, love. Not expensive but given with love.
And they will love in return.
